“Villanelle ” pattern by Maja Siska

A top-down construction and modern take on a traditional Icelandic lopapeysa. Inspired by the vibrant and fun hand-dyed colors by Slettuskjótt (… and by BBC heroine Villanelle!). Plötulopi held double and knitted with 6,5 mm will give you a very airy but warm sweater, the perfect summer sweater for Iceland, with a beautiful drape. There is no stranded knitting, only one color per round, the zigzag is created with a chevron pattern. The fit is very relaxed and with a recommended 12- 20 cm/ 5“ -7.5“ positive ease, the ribbing at the bottom is split on the sides. Short rows add length to the sweater, helping it drape nicely at the back. Very comfortable to wear and intended to be extra big! Thingborg‘s plötulopi is softer than others, as it is made from handpicked lamb‘s fleeces. The natural colors are indeed undyed and less processed (=softer!), while the hand-dyed colors by Slettuskjótt are just amazingly beautiful and fun. www.thingborg.is
